Tonight's the Night

HAPPY HALLOWEEN . . .
from the bell jar on my mantle.

The Little Cotton Rabbits Group on Ravelry is hosting a contest and I want to enter, but I'm indecisive. Who should I submit?

Great Uncle Dave who likes to prepare the garden for winter

or

Bernard who likes to hang around pumpkins, climb vines
and find shelter from the rain.

Deary me! Who to chose?

A Little Robert Frost After a Frosty Morning

Bunny brought home a fantastic find from the park today.

It begins in delight

and ends in wisdom.
It was just a stick.

Just in Time for Cozy

In 2002 I bought my first Sally Melville pattern book,
 Book 1: The Knit Stitch.
Book 2 : The Purl Stitch and Book 3 : Color
followed in quick succession.

There were charming photos of Sally

wearing my preferred foot apparel at that time, so I knew I'd like her stuff.

My first project was the Einstein Coat which saw me through many a chilly morning in my classroom. It was a hit with other staff. Would I knit one for them? Ha, ha, ha, ha . . .

Was this one of the first capelettes?

Recently, I found Sally's blog and this yummy shoulder thingy.
Sally isn't too sure what to call it either, but it caught my eye.

So, since I didn't have stash yarn that met the required gauge,
I deconstructed an unfinished sweater that had been lying dormant,

 held the yarn double

and  . . .voila . . . L'Enveloppe is on its way.
Just in time for cozy.
Thanks, Sally. You're great!

Look Up, Look Down

 My very heart faints,
 and my whole soul grieves

 At the moist rich smell

 of rotting leaves,

 And the breath

 Of the fading

edges of box beneath,

And the last year's rose.

It Continues

Living alone in an empty house,

Here half-hid in the gleaming wood,

Where I hear the dead at midday moan,

And the shrieking rush of the wainscot mouse,

And my own sad name in corners cried,

When the shiver of dancing leaves is thrown

About its echoing chambers wide.

Ah, the choices we make.

Practise What you Preach

In the 17 days since my uncle died Hub and I have spent most of that time  . . .
 de-cluttering

 and cleaning.

57 years in one house is not good for anyone,
especially those left behind who have to sort through.

So, being a rainy day and with Hub at the house painting, I thought I'd tackle my yarn stash again. I have really cheap, nasty yarn I bought when I re-entered the wonderful world of knitting about 25 years ago. No Rowan here!

You know the stuff . . .

Off to the Sally Ann.

I will be keeping 2 projects in their home downstairs
(which really means I probably won't touch them, but can't pitch them yet)

When we bought this house 4 years ago I had a Stash Cupboard built upstairs. Clever girl.

The plan was to store current projects out of sight, but in an organized manner. Admirable idea.

Hmmm . . . Well . . . they're at least in project containers.
Tomorrow . . .

Black and Orange are Coming

 Everything is black and orange,

Black and orange, tonight!

 Orange pumpkins . . .

orange moon,

Orange candle light.

Halloween . . . 17 more sleeps!
